Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors come in many different looks and styles. Many styles consist of authentic wood appearances to accommodate any room in the house. This product is well suited for the homeowner that appreciates the appearance of real hardwood without the concerns that a hardwood floor can sometimes pose.
Laminate floors provide exceptional durability to withstand the toughest household activity.
Laminate floors are typically constructed of three layers: a backing, a core material, and a wear layer. Laminate floors are typically installed using a “floating floor system” in which a padded under-layment sits between the substrate and the laminate planks. The individual planks either lock together or are glued together at the side seams.
Laminate floors work particularly well in lofts and multi-family living environments.
Understanding the Characteristics of Laminate Flooring:
• Durability - Although laminate floors are extremely durable, they are not invincible. Laminate floors are not scratch proof. It is strongly recommended that you protect your laminate floor by placing felt pads on table and chair legs. Consider placing walk off mats at entry ways. Do not drag heavy furniture across the floor without adequate protection.
• Bounce - Since this product floats, it can have a slight tendency to “bounce” in areas. This characteristic is a normal condition of the floor.
• Climate - Variations in temperature and humidity inside and outside of the home will cause movement in the laminate flooring. This may cause cracks and/or peaks in the floor.
• Transitions - Be aware that transition pieces to different flooring surfaces such as tile, vinyl, or carpet will overlap the main part of the floor. This is necessary because of the “floating” of the laminate floor. There may also be transition strips installed in doorways to help break up the length of the floor and allow it to float in smaller sections.
• Sound - Walking on laminate flooring may produce a hollow sound due to padded underlayment sitting between the substrate and the laminate planks of the "floating floor system." This is considered a normal condition of laminate flooring.
• Moisture - Laminate floors are not warranted against water damage caused by standing water, floods, or the migration of water underneath the product.
