Window Coverings
Understanding the Characteristics of Window Coverings

• Fabric - Most fabrics are free flowing material and are subject to a tolerance of movement.
Since there is no such thing as a colorfast material or dye, fabric fibers can also weaken and fade when exposed to sunlight and/or hot and cold conditions. The best protection from this type of damage is a good quality liner.
Most fabric products do not fit windows tightly enough to completely seal out cold and hot air. However, they can cut down drafts and slow down the eventual introduction of cold and warm air into the room.
• Wood Shutters - Solid wood shutters are some of the most elegant window coverings available. Like a fine piece of furniture, custom wood shutters are a beautiful combination of style, versatility, and durability that adds warmth and depth to any setting.
Due to the nature of wood, you can expect some variations in color of stains, hardness of wood, and texture of grain whether stained or painted finish.
These variations are not considered to be defects; they are the characteristics that make a natural wood shutter beautiful. Minor imperfections are not readily apparent and are considered to be acceptable.
• Composite Shutters - Modern technology and state-of–the-art production create shutters that are durable and functional, yet offer the same traditional look as wood shutters.
Although there are no stain colors available, composite shutters come in popular shades of white to blend with any décor. The waterproof, fire retardant, color fast, washable, gloss finish complements most trim moldings and window sills resulting in a beautiful window treatment .
• Wood blinds - These are true wood products and may have variations in color, grain, and texture. These variations are more visible on blinds stained in light-colors and are considered normal and natural.
Since wood blinds are a natural wood product, they serve as good insulators. Slight warping may occur after time depending on climate conditions.
• Vertical blinds - Vertical blinds offer versatility in window covering solutions. Vertical vanes can be sheer and free hanging, or inserted into a vinyl backing for better light control and insulation. Rotation and drawing of the vanes allows the perfect combination of functionality and design.
Sheer wrapped verticals offer a soft look with an option for complete privacy. Movement of vanes is an acceptable characteristic of vertical blinds.
• Window Shades: Woven Woods, Silhouette, Cellular and Pleated Shades – From crisp and timeless, to smooth and relaxed, shades often add a fresh look that enhances any style and design. They are available in blackout, semi-opaque, textured, and sheer fabrics to maximize privacy and lightingl choices.
Minor variations in fabric textures and color variations are acceptable.
